Sandpiper Records was formed in 2003 as a medium to circulate Observation Point albums. It then started releasing albums from other artists producing imaginative and unique ambient or electronic music that sat well outside the mainstream.

The label started as an online retail site, and the releases were sold as a non-profit venture; with all the proceeds going to the artists.

Workload and financial issues resulted in the label ceasing to trade in 2006, but all past releases and curios that were shelved have now been dusted down and are/will be available from archive.com.
